Round Four at the Museum Store

For Art in Bloom 2023 (March 15 - 19)the Museum Store has invited me to choose one of its pieces of art that is interpreted by floral designers for Art in Bloom 2023. I chose a Grecian urn called a Skyphos (a two-handled wine cup) with an owl pattern. I did a digital interpretation of the art on the urn and designed scarves from the digital art. The owl scarves along with others are now available at the NC Museum of Art Store.

Round Three at the Museum Store

From October 2022 through January 2023, I had art in both the main Museum Store and the Exhibition Store for the Phillips Collection Exhibition. I was invited to do an interpretive painting of one of the 53 masterpieces on loan from the Phillips (from October 8, 2022 to January 22, 2023) and then turn my interpretive painting into scarves, and later totes, with both my interpretive painting and the art products available for sale in the Exhibition Store.

I chose Wassily Kandinsky, and his work, Autumn II. I admire his bold use of color and early adoption of abstract art. And, like me, he was a lawyer and a lecturer in law, so I felt a kinship of sorts. This exhibition corresponded with the Opening of the redesigned West Building of the Museum, where many of my scarf designs are available in the main Museum Store.

Announcement March 2022 - Round Two: I am excited to announce that three designs from my artwork made into scarves and trays, and now also pillows, have been selected by the Museum Store for Art in Bloom!

This most popular yearly exhibit at the Museum of Art is from March 16 to March 20, 2022. Go to the Museum site for tickets.

The products chosen by the Museum Store are available for sale at NCMA during Art in Bloom and through June.
